Terms of Use

Last updated: 1 October 2026

1. Scope

These Terms of Use apply to the Scanlane app for iPhone and iPad ("the app") and to the website scanlane.app. The provider is Neltacore, LLC, 1908 Thomes Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA ("we", "us"). Our full contact details are in the legal notice: scanlane.app/impressum

How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy: scanlane.app/privacy

2. Apple's Standard EULA

The app is licensed to you, not sold. Your licence to use the app is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA"): apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula

The Standard EULA is part of these Terms of Use. The "Licensor" named in the Standard EULA is Neltacore, LLC.

These Terms add rules that are specific to Scanlane, in particular for the Scanlane Pro subscription. If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA applies, unless these Terms give you more rights.

3. Free version and Scanlane Pro

You can use Scanlane for free, without an account and with no time limit. The free version lets you scan (including multi-page documents), clean up, save and share PDFs and images, organise your documents and sign them, without export limits or watermarks.

Scanlane Pro unlocks additional features. The app (with a "PRO" label) and the App Store product page show which features are part of Pro before you subscribe.

We keep developing the app and may change features, for example to improve them or to keep up with new iOS versions. If a change significantly limits your use of Scanlane Pro, we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel. Your statutory rights are not affected.

4. Scanlane Pro subscription

Purchase through Apple

Scanlane Pro is an auto-renewable subscription that you buy with Apple's In-App Purchase. The purchase is made through Apple's App Store: Apple processes the payment and billing, and Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions apply (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes).

Term and price

The subscription runs for one year. The price for your country, including any taxes, is shown in the app and in the App Store before you confirm the purchase. The payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase or, if you start with a free trial, when the trial ends.

Free trial

Eligible new subscribers can try Scanlane Pro free for 7 days. Apple decides who is eligible; usually there is one free trial per Apple Account. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it automatically turns into a paid yearly subscription. Scanlane reminds you before your trial ends: in the app and, if you allow notifications, with a notification.

Automatic renewal

The subscription renews automatically for another year unless you turn off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price that applies at that time.

Price changes

If the price changes, Apple informs you in advance. For a price increase, Apple asks for your consent where Apple's rules or the law require it. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time:

The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you can use Scanlane Pro until then. If you cancel during the free trial, you are not charged, and you can keep using Scanlane Pro until the trial ends. Apple's help page: support.apple.com/en-us/118428

Restoring on a new device

Your subscription belongs to your Apple Account. On a new iPhone or iPad, sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Settings › Pro › Restore purchases in Scanlane.

Refunds and right of withdrawal

Refunds are handled by Apple only. You can request one in Scanlane (Settings › Pro › Request refund) or at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, because we do not process any payments. Apple's help page: support.apple.com/en-us/118223

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you may have a statutory right of withdrawal. Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions explain it and how to use it.

Offer codes and Family Sharing

If you redeem an offer code (in Scanlane under Settings › Pro › Redeem code, or in the App Store), the conditions shown when you redeem it apply. Free periods from offer codes also turn into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before they end. If Family Sharing is turned on for Scanlane Pro, the members of your Family Sharing group can use it too.

When your subscription ends

You keep all your documents. Content you created with Scanlane Pro, such as searchable PDFs, recognised text or saved signatures, stays readable and exportable. Only new Pro actions need an active subscription.

5. Your documents

You keep all rights to your documents. We do not receive them and get no rights to them.

You are responsible for making sure you may scan, edit and share a document, for example with regard to copyright, other people's personal data or identity documents, and for following the laws that apply to you.

Please back up important documents, for example with iCloud Drive or by exporting them. We cannot restore data from your device, because we have no access to it.

6. Results of automatic features

Text recognition, translation, AI summaries and answers, automatic file names and image enhancement are produced automatically and can contain errors. Check important results, such as numbers, names, or legal or medical content, against the original before you rely on them. AI summaries and answers are not professional advice.

7. Fair use

Do not use Scanlane to break the law or to infringe other people's rights. The usage restrictions in the Standard EULA (for example on copying, modifying or reverse engineering the app) apply, except where the law allows otherwise.

8. Warranty and liability

Your statutory rights in case of defects apply.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and where we have given a guarantee.

In cases of slight negligence, we are only liable if we breach an essential contractual obligation, meaning an obligation that makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract.

The disclaimers and limitations of liability in the Standard EULA apply only as far as the law that applies to you permits them. Nothing in these Terms limits your mandatory rights as a consumer.

9. Support

We, not Apple, provide support for Scanlane. Contact us at support@scanlane.app or see scanlane.app/support

10. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms for the future, for example when we add features or when the law changes. Changes do not affect the price or the length of a subscription period that is already running. We will inform you about important changes in the app. If you do not agree, you can cancel your subscription with effect from the end of the current period.

11. Applicable law and disputes

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you usually live.

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
